ARCADES Workshop: Kickoff and Recruitment Event
Deadline for funding applications to the Workshop: 31 January 2016
This is the Kickoff Workshop of European Network ARCADES, and also a Recruitment event for the Network’s 13 PhD positions. MSc students or recent graduates are encouraged to participate and may request funding. ARCADES is a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Innovative Training Network, that started on January 1st, 2016, lasting for 4 years. It includes 8 sites and 5 industrial partners. It offers a comprehensive training program at the crossroads of mathematics, computer-aided design, and software development.
Recruitment event
We encourage the participation of recent graduates that have obtained, or students completing, their MSc in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or another relevant field, and may be interested in the Network’s PhD positions. They shall learn of our planned activities and meet potential advisors, and may present their work in a poster session. ARCADES offers funding to such participants, typically of up to 700 Euro per person, in order to cover travel and accommodation.
Those interested must apply by January 31st, 2016, by sending an email to arcades.kickoff@geometrie.tuwien.ac.at, containing one file with the items below, and the subject line marking “WORKSHOP APPLICATION”:
1) Detailed CV,
2) the completed eligibility form (from http://arcades-network.eu/index.php/open-positions),
3) [if requesting funding] the expected cost of travel and accommodation costs, and the amount of funding requested,
4) [optionally] the title of a poster that the applicant may wish to present.

Before travelling to Austria, please check if you need a visa to enter Austria. Whether you require a visa or not depends on your nationality and not on your current residential address. Depending on where you are coming from, you may travel to Vienna by plane, train, bus or car. Once you are in Vienna, follow the directions below to go to Vienna University of Technology.
The Workshop will take place at the Freihaus building of the Faculty of Mathematics and Geoinformation. It is the building marked with a “D” in this map.
How to get to Vienna University of Technology
- By Plane
The Vienna International Airport (VIA) in Schwechat is about 20 km south-east of Vienna. There are many different ways to get into the city:
